20.01.12: New pricing in 2012
Due to price increases by Applied Biosystems we will have to start charging for 5x Sequencing Buffer (125 euros per 500 ul). Also, the price for formamid (25 ml bottles) will increase from 35 euros to 40 euros. All other prices will remain unchanged, most notably all prices for sequencing services.

20.01.12: Current delivery times in the Biocenter
The deadline for delivery of sequencing samples is 10:00 AM. For sample deposition we are using the fridge on the right side of the Sequencing Lab (G03.031). Please make sure that your samples are labeled with your name or some other kind of unique identifier. On some days we receive multiple 8-strips, each labeled with 1 to 8, which makes the correct assignment quite challenging.
In cases where you need your results more quickly please directly contact Gisela Brinkmann or Ute Bergmann (2180.74715) and ask for individual handling of your samples. We are happy to help whenever possible to provide you with optimum turnaround time.

Welcome
Welcome to the Sequencing Service of the Genomics Service Unit (GSU)

We are offering the following services to academic research groups:

Cycle, Clean & Run: You provide us with a template/primer mix, we do the sequencing reaction, clean-up of the reaction, and the sequencing run.

Clean & Run: You do the sequencing reaction yourself, we perform clean-up and the sequencing run.

Run: You do the sequencing reaction and clean-up yourself, we only perform the sequencing run (only available for full 96 well plates).

Fragment Analysis Run: You do the PCR reactions, dilutions and mixing with length standard, we do the run (only available for full 96 well plates).

For sequencing services you have the choice between BigDye v1.1 and BigDye v3.1 sequencing chemistry. For fragment analysis we have currently established three dye sets:
Dye Set G5 with 6-FAM, PET, NED, VIC, and LIZ as size standard
Dye Set F with 5-FAM, JOE, NED, and ROX as size standard
Dye Set E5 with dR6G, dR110, dTAMRA, dROX and LIZ for use in the Applied Biosystems SNaPshot Multiplexing System.
Your samples are analyzed on an ABI 3730 48 capillary sequencer with 50 cm capillary length providing excellent fragment separation and sensitivity. Sequence files have usually at least 750 nucleotides of reliable data, in most cases much more.

We process samples daily from Monday to Friday (except for holidays). Samples that are deposited in the refrigerator in room G03.031 (Biocenter in Martinsried) by 10:00 AM will be processed within the same day, and data files can usually be downloaded in the evening on the same day. You can also send samples by mail, of course. The address is: Sequencing Service Department Biologie, Großhaderner Str. 2-4, 82152 Martinsried. Please make sure that your samples are nicely padded for transport.

On the left hand side of this page you can find a tutorial, which will explain how to navigate this site, protocols for preparation of samples and other useful files.

The Sequencing Service is a continuously growing project of the Genomics Service Unit (GSU). We very much welcome your questions, comments, ideas, and criticism.
